Windshield glass damage is frequent! In fact, it is the second most common car insurance claim in the US[1]. While windshield glass chips and cracks may seem insignificant, it’s incredibly important to repair them as soon as possible. Here are 7 helpful tips on finding a reliableauto glass company:
1. Ask around
If you don’t know where to start, a simple but effective first step is to ask your family and friends where they go and what their opinion of them is. According to Nielsen, 92% of consumers believe recommendations from friends and family over all forms of advertising[2]. Try to select a shop with a long-standing reputation in your area.
2. Evaluate expertise
You want to make sure that your car is in good hands! A good way of comparing expertise is by searching information about your local auto glass shops on the web. Review their websites and social media venues and if possible, talk to them. Do they have experience doing the specific repair you require? Do they have trained technicians? How many technicians do they assign for windshield replacement?
3. Inquire about quality of products used for repair
While experience and expertise are very important in the quality you receive. The parts and products used play an equally important role. You want to find a shop that uses high quality products such as original equipment manufacturer (OEM) glass and adhesives.
4. Ask about warranty provided
Always verify the type of warranty provided by the auto glass company that you select. Does it provide full or partial warranty? This shows that they are confident in the quality of their work and assures you that if any issues arise in the future, they will take care of it.
5. Check out their customer service
We all love to have a good relationship with our service providers. So, when you have to get windshield repairs or replacements, you want experts available to answer your questions that are friendly and approachable. Set time aside to read customer reviews. Remember that great customer service equals an easier process!
6. Ask if they offer a mobile repair/replacement service
Let’s face it, getting your windshield repaired during working hours is just not plausible. Make sure that the auto glass company that you select offers on-site assistance to help you save time and effort.
7. Repair-first policy
A reliable auto glass company follows a “repair-first” policy. There are several benefits to repairing your windshield vs. replacing, unfortunately many auto glass companies purposely confuse or distort the facts so they can get a higher priced glass replacement job.
